The launch of Lok Indie Studio — an alternative space for progressive and independent art shows and workshops — saw Something Out of Nothing, a play by a travelling troupe from London, Vacuum Theatre.
A niche crowd comprising around 100 people lapped up the alternative theatre performance. The space also boasted of a visual archive of the group’s shows and photographs of over 200 young artists who have worked in their projects around the country.

“It’s been a dream since 2010 — when we started Lok — to have our own studio where we can engage in experimental and progressive art. After four years the dream has come true,” said Soumyajit Majumdar, artistic director of Lok. Actor Kheya Chattopadhyay said, “The intimate theatre was a different experience altogether. This group from London interacted with the audience all along and came up with impromptu performances.”
