Spider-Man 4 will take place at the same time as Avengers: Doomsday

Exciting buzz surrounds the next Spider-Man film! Reports suggest 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' will unfold concurrently with 'Avengers: Doomsday'. This marks a unique MCU timeline event. Tom Holland's schedule filming 'The Odyssey' might explain Spider-Man's absence from 'Doomsday'. The film explores Peter Parker's solitary life post-'No Way Home', hinting at street-level crime and potential multiverse elements.

A new rumor about Spider-Man 4 has created a lot of buzz among Marvel fans.
According to insider Jeff Sneider, Tom Holland's next movie as Spider-Man—now confirmed to be titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day—will take place at the same time as 'Avengers: Doomsday'. If this turns out to be true, it would mark the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) that two movies are set during the exact same time period.
This information was shared during Sneider's appearance on The Hot Mic podcast, where he said the two films are happening “simultaneously, concurrently” within the MCU timeline. He also mentioned that fans should not expect to see Spider-Man in 'Avengers: Doomsday', and the reason may be both in-story and real-world related. In real life, Tom Holland is currently busy filming The Odyssey, a movie directed by Christopher Nolan. His schedule could be preventing him from appearing in Doomsday, and that’s possibly being explained in the story by setting Spider-Man 4 at the same time.
This would be a major first for the MCU. In the past, some films have overlapped in brief scenes or post-credit moments—like Ant-Man and the Wasp lining up with the snap in Avengers: Infinity War—but no two full movies have ever taken place during the exact same timeline.
The new Spider-Man film is expected to dive deeper into Peter Parker’s life after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which ended with the world forgetting who he was. Now that no one remembers Peter Parker, the film will likely show how he’s adapting to life alone, possibly dealing with street-level crime again. However, fans are also wondering if the multiverse will still play a role in the movie, as it did in No Way Home.
Some theories suggest that Spider-Man 4 might introduce the concept of Battleworld, which is a key part of the Secret Wars storyline from Marvel Comics. There are also rumors that the villain Mr. Negative could appear, but nothing has been officially confirmed.
Because of the new timeline overlap, it looks like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man won’t appear in Avengers: Doomsday, and his next appearance in the Avengers storyline might be delayed until Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. That also means fans might have to wait a little longer to see Peter Parker reunite with some of the MCU’s biggest heroes.
For now, all eyes are on 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', which is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Fans are eager to see how Marvel Studios and Sony plan to expand Spider-Man’s story while tying it into the bigger Multiverse Saga.
