Sunny Deol's 'Jaat' which released in theatres on Sunday has been doing significantly well at the box office. The movie was highly anticipated after Sunny's last release 'Gadar 2' which was a huge storm at the box office. Of course, while 'Jaat' cannot be compared to that, the film is doing well in its own right and also gave a tough competition to Salman Khan starrer 'Sikandar'.
Jaat Movie ReviewHuge jump in numbers on Sunday While it opened at Rs 9.5 crore on day 1 which is Thursday, it saw a huge growth on the weekend, especially Sunday. On Friday, which was day 2, it saw a slight drop than day 1 and made Rs 7 crore. On Saturday, the numbers jumped to Rs 9.75 crore. And on Sunday, it saw a growth of around 43.59 percent. Thus, according to Sacnilk, the total collection of the movie so far is Rs 40.25 crore. This growth on Sunday was quite a game changer for the movie, also to maintain its pace on Monday and the coming days.
Sunny's dominance in the northern markets According to Box Office India, the film has been getting some excellent numbers in Rajasthan while the numbers from Delhi/UP, West Punjab are good. There was scope of the film to do much better in Maharashtra and Gujarat. However, with this kind of day wise trend, the film is surely heading towards being a success. Meanwhile, Sikandar has seen a significant drop in the business and proved to be a box office dud as it collected only Rs 40 lakh on Saturday. Even the Sunday numbers stand at around 54 lakhs. The total collection of the film so far, according to Sacnilk is Rs 109.04 crore. The Ambedkar Jayanti holiday in some parts of the country may further boost the numbers of Monday and keep them at par with the Sunday numbers. Good word of mouth may further lead to more footfalls in theatres. The film is largely doing well at the single screens. On Monday, day 5, till the morning shows, the film had made Rs 72 lakhs. But the numbers are expected to grow by the evening shows.
