Waiting in the wings can often be annoying and tough to handle, but it also bears results. Ask
Omkar Kapoor, who has waited three years to find his next gig in commercial Hindi cinema. Filmmaker
Luv Ranjan’s discovery for 'Pyar Ka Punchnama 2', he will now be seen in director
Pradeep Sarkar’s next, titled 'Arranged Marriage'. The actor recently shot for a couple of days with actors
Ali Fazal and Patralekhaa in Kolkata for the film.
In the interim, he had also worked on 'Jhootha Kahin Ka' with
Rishi Kapoor, but the film doesn’t have a release date as yet. So, for now, Omkar has decided to focus on his new project in which he plays one of the central characters.
“It was amazing to work with Pradeep dada once again. We’ve worked together on a couple of ad films and also on a film for the Swachh Bharat campaign. I am very fond of him, because he’s childlike at heart and is a wonderful storyteller. I’ve really grown to respect him. Arranged Marriage is a triangular love story set in Kolkata, which presents a take on today’s relationships that are often twisted and complicated. I play Neil, who is torn between the people he loves. Ali Fazal and Patralekhaa play the other central characters,” he beams.
About bonding with his co-stars, Omkar says, “It’s all about breaking the ice and finding common grounds like food and workout. We have a lot of Bengali actors in the crew, so we all bonded over Bengali khaana peena. Dada also participated and that just infused the set with great energy.”
