The ensemble was a visual symphony of intricate threadwork and embellishments, a tribute to both the richness of South Asian couture and Black Style. A standout accessory was the golden elephant-face brooch on his overcoat, a subtle nod to Indian heritage.

Social media was abuzz as photos and videos of Malhotra’s look, with fans hailing the designer for not just dressing others like Natasha Poonawala in show-stopping looks, but delivering one himself. “He didn’t come to play,” one user commented, while another wrote, "Ate and left no crumbs". Still another added, “He is the moment!”

Adding to the night's significance for Indian audiences, Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan, Kiara Advani, and Diljit Dosanjh also made their Met Gala debuts.
This year the dress code is about tailoring and suiting as interpreted through the history and meaning of Black dandyism across the Atlantic diaspora. The theme is inspired by the annual spring exhibition, which this year is based in large part on Miller's book, “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity."
The exhibit, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” draws on other sources beyond Miller's book. It's organized into 12 sections. Each symbolizes a characteristic of dandy style as defined by Zora Neale Hurston in her 1934 essay, “Characteristics of Negro Expression.”
