Singer Sonu Nigam is facing the heat from the Kannada film industry after a recent concert in Bengaluru led to backlash and controversy. The situation has now escalated to a point where a song sung by him was removed from a Kannada film, even after he issued a public apology.A News18 report said that the fallout from the Bengaluru concert led to Nigam facing strong criticism from the Kannada film industry.As a result, his song from the film 'Kuladalli Keelyavudo' has been removed.Sonu Nigam’s song removed from Kannada filmThe makers of 'Kuladalli Keelyavudo' shared a press note confirming that Sonu’s song will no longer be part of the film. Their statement, published by the outlet, read, “There is no doubt that Sonu Nigam is a good singer. But, we are very upset by how he spoke about Kannada recently at a concert. We cannot tolerate the insult Sonu Nigam has done to Kannada, so we have removed the song.”
Sonu had sung 'Manasu Haadtade' for the film, which is directed by K Ramnarayan. The track was composed by Manomurthy and the lyrics were written by Yogaraj Bhat. The song received a positive response when it was released around a month ago and is still available on Sonu Nigam’s official YouTube channel.Now, the film’s team has chosen singer Chethan to re-record the song. Producer Santosh Kumar has also said that he will not work with Sonu Nigam on any future projects.

What is the controversy about?

At a concert in Bengaluru, Sonu ignored a student who kept asking him to sing a Kannada song. He also said, “This is why the Pahalgam incident happened.” After people from Karnataka saw the video and were upset, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) told everyone to halt working with Sonu.Sonu later explained his side on Instagram and said sorry, writing, “Sorry Karnataka. My love for you is bigger than my pride. Love you always.” A police complaint was filed against him at Avalahalli Police Station in Bengaluru because he linked the request to the Pahalgam attack.
