This actor’s journey, along with his skill set, is a testament to how not giving up works out in the end. Shekhar, who was well known for his acting prowess, once even acted as Madhuri Dixit’s driver! Yes, he used to, at one point in his life, drop off and pick up the actress from her home and film sets!
Suman’s first film
Shekhar Suman’s first film, titled ‘Utsav’, involved some of the biggest names in the industry at the time. He starred alongside Rekha in a movie that was produced by Shashi Kapoor and directed by Girish Karnad. According to India.com, the actor did not even need to put too much effort into acquiring the role. In an interview with famous TV show host Siddharth Kannan, the ‘Heeramandi’ actor shared that “This was perhaps the most incredible break for any newcomer in Indian cinema. Within just 15 days, I was signed for the film, barely unpacking my bags before I found myself shooting alongside Rekha just two months later. I will always be grateful to Shashi Kapoor, Girish Karnad, and Rekha.”
Going back to his days as Madhuri’s driver, Suman also shared in another interview that before ‘Utsav’, he was starring in another film with Madhuri Dixit titled ‘Manav Hatya’. Due to its low budget, the actor would often use his bike to pick up and drop off the actress for her shoots.
On his path to success
The actor failed to score well in the film industry when most of his projects flopped around 1989. This made cement transfer on to this world of television where he finally found success. The actor became a popular name in the TV industry and worked on various renowned shows. He even started his own talk show titled ‘Movers and Shakers’.
