It's been a good start to the year for Kannada actress Amulya. After the decent box-office showing of her film Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole, the actress is awaiting the release of Krishna Rukku, in which she is paired with Krishna Ajai Rao. She has another reason to cheer as well, as her film Gajakessari was adjudged Best Entertainer at the Karnataka State Film Awards, 2014.
'It feels good, no doubt,' says
Amulya, adding, 'I have great expectations of Krishna Rukku as I loved the story and because it takes me back to my early days in Kannada cinema, in terms of the look and feel of my character. In the last few years, a lot of the roles I have done have been modern, for which I had to up the glam quotient. In this film, though, I play a simple village girl. It feels like I am back in my Cheluvina Chittara days.' While the crux of the film is a love story, Amulya says that the focus is on capturing how people can be possessive of each other. 'For instance, when a girl likes a guy, she tends to get jealous and be possessive about him if she sees him with any other girl. That is an aspect that has been explored in the film,' she says.
This is, incidentally, Amulya's first film with Ajai, an experience that she says was quite an eye-opener. 'For starters, he is a very down-to-earth person, but more importantly, on the set he is extremely focused and involved in everything that's happening. He takes an extra interest and suggests improvisations in different angles than what was originally conceived,' says the actress.
Up next, Amulya has been signed up to be a part of director Nagshekhar's film with Duniya Vijay, Maasti Gudi. 'I play a collegian in the film, but the role is rather deglam. The character requires a lot of dedication from me and I should get started on that after the release of Krishna Rukku,' she signs off.
