Bride-to-be Hitha plays a bride onscreen too

We’d recently reported that Meghana Gaonkar bagged her next with director Santhosh G. Actor Hitha Chandrashekar now joins the cast of the same as-yet-untitled film. And as fate would have it, Hitha, who is all set to tie the knot later this year with actor Kiran Srinivas, is playing a bride. Elaborating on the character, Hitha shares, “I play Vidya, a girl who belongs to an upper middle-class family.

Her father is a police officer and she has been brought up in a very protected environment. All her life, she has dreamt about finding that one special man, and she will do anything to keep him. The film is centered around her wedding and the madness that ensues there.”
Could she relate to the character? “It is the first time that I am playing a bride onscreen, and Vidya is very different from who I am and how I will be at my wedding. Vidya just wants to find a guy, settle down and has domestic dreams, as opposed to being professionally driven. It will be quite a challenge to play someone unlike me,” she explains.
Speaking about being career-driven, does Hitha get asked the age-old question whether she will continue working after getting married? “When I was asked this question on social media, I asked if men stop working once they get married, or if they’d ask this to women in other professions, and women, including lawyers and doctors, replied that they get asked the same too. We need to break this stereotype. It is the 21st century. There is no dead-end for being an actor, as age is not a factor in this career,” she says.
Coming back to the film, Hitha, who joins the team on Monday, shares that she has been paired opposite Sidhaartha Maadhyamika of Kavaludaari fame. Does she share screen space with Meghana? “I do. I have met her earlier and interacted with her at a few events. I am looking forward to working with her,” she signs off.
