Actor
Prabhu Mundkur ushered in a bunch of new and exciting things in his life in recent times. For starters, he and his wife were blessed with twins – a boy and a girl – and he diversified professionally as a scriptwriter. In a video chat with us,
Prabhu told us how the second lockdown has been a bittersweet experience.
"We were shooting for Murphy in Mangaluru, when the sudden spike in cases and subsequent lockdown disrupted the shoot. While that was disappointing, everything happens for the good and we literally saw a positive outcome, as we headed to a beach in Surathkal, which had some old structures in the backdrop. Shortly after we shot there, during the lockdown, it rained heavily and everything was damaged. If we hadn’t gone then, we would have not missing out on it," reveals Prabhu.
For the Urvi actor, the biggest blessing of the lockdown was being home with his family. "For me, it was a bigger blessing in disguise and my wife needed me the most. We were just blessed with twins. Right now, when one of the twins stops crying, the other starts. When both of them calm down, our elder daughter starts crying. And when all my kids are calm, my wife has her moments. It is a blessed experience and I am enjoying this whole phase of parenthood. My elder daughter is Neka, while my twins are named Naksh and Nishka. This translates to Beautiful Golden Moon. I'm known as Narasimha to my family, while my wife's name after the wedding is
Nakshatra, so it was a conscious decision to name the kids with the letter N," he shares about his family.
The actor has also used the lockdown to work on his fitness and become more active on social media where he has been sharing his workout posts. "This time, I fixed my daily routine. We never follow a set time table. F or my workouts, I am enjoying a home routine that I have devised, along with a diet plan based on the research I did," adds Prabhu, saying that he has cleared his mind of negative feelings, as he needs to be there for his family. "Usually, it is brought about by our own minds. So, I used this time to shake away any such feelings. This has helped me in a big way."
The other big change was Prabhu taking on more responsibilities behind the camera. "I had never expected that I would take up film writing. I should thank director BS Pradeep Varma for that. We wanted to explore a love story and wrote I on the terrace of my home during the first lockdown. We have now completed 30% of the same film. I am also writing other stories now. I think it is always beneficial for actors when we are invested in the film in more than just the acting department. Being a part of the writing team, and as the associate director for Murphy, has been a big learning experience," he adds.
