Late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar's iconic debut film 'Appu' is set to return to theaters on March 14, 2025, just ahead of his 50th birthday. Puneeth's wife, Ashwini, announced the re-release on social media.
On X (formerly Twitter), she shared, "Misunderstanding ಬೇಡ! Get ready to relive the magic. #Appu returns to theaters in honor of Dr. Puneeth Rajkumar's 50th birthday. In cinemas on 14th March 2025, a @PRK_Productions release.

Directed by Puri Jagannadh, 'Appu' marked Puneeth's entry into the film industry as a leading man in 2002 and became a massive hit, running for over 200 days in theaters.
The film tells the story of a carefree youngster named Appu, who falls in love with Suchitra, the daughter of a police commissioner. Despite facing rejection and obstacles, Appu's determination and love ultimately win over Suchitra's heart. The film features Puneeth alongside Rakshita, with Avinash and Hemashree in supporting roles.
Interestingly, the film not only launched Puneeth's career but also earned him the nickname "Appu" among his fans.

This decision follows the successful re-release of another Puneeth Rajkumar film, 'Jackie,' which was well-received by fans. The plan is to re-release one of Puneeth's films every year on his birthday, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire new generations of cinema lovers.
