Sibi Malayil’s directorial ‘Kotthu’ will hit the cinemas on Friday (Sep 16), and ahead of the release, the veteran filmmaker’s son Joe has penned a note, speaking about what the audience could expect. The upcoming film has
Asif Ali in the lead role, and is touted to be a political thriller. In his social media note, Joe Sibi Malayli stated that the audience will get to see a ‘new Asif Ali’ in ‘Kotthu’.
“Asif Ali the new comer in Apoorvaraagam, Violin and Unnam has travelled and grown a lot in KOTTHU.
I have been a viewer from the sidelines and closely interacting with him along the years. We have had our differences but all that aside I was taken aback by the actor that is Asif Ali in KOTTHU. He has made it on his own and anything everything that brings recognition for his acting in KOTTHU, he alone deserves the credit for it. Tomorrow you will see a new Asif Ali. An Asif Ali that will stay in this industry for times to come. An Asif Ali that will dominate his movies on sheer dedication and commitment to the craft. I am so proud of him. See you all in theatres from tomorrow! KOTTHU in cinemas 16.09.2022,” the note read.
Touted to be a political thriller, ‘Kotthu’ also has Asif Ali,
Nikhila Vimal and
Roshan Mathew in the lead roles and actors Ranjith, Sreelakshmi, Sudev Nair, Sreejith Ravi, Vijilesh Kariyad, Athul Ram Kumar, Sivan Sopanam, Dinesh Aleppy, and Rahul will be seen in supporting roles.
‘Kotthu’ also marks ace filmmaker Sibi Malayil’s return to cinema, after a gap of about six years.
