That director M Mohanan has always strived to bring to the silver screen movies with a strong social message is known. In sync with films like Kadha Parayumbol and Manikyakallu, his next film, 916, focuses on the importance of relationships. With this, he hopes to provide the audience some food for thought. While it is not important for a film to have a message because cinema is basically entertainment my films tend to be based on my beliefs and values, explains the director.
Kadha Parayumbol showcased how friendship changes over the years, and
Manikyakallu spoke about students going astray due to cracks in the education system. Now, in
916, Mohanan speaks about the relevance and importance of relationships in the contemporary society.
Last year, there have been around 42,000 divorce cases registered in our state. The most common issues that lead to divorce have been ego clashes and alcoholism, explains Mohanan, who adds, Movies with relevant themes enhance the cinematic experience for Malayalis, who have always accepted films with relationships as its main theme.
The film, which is scheduled for a November release, has Anoop Menon in the lead, as a doctor working in a government hospital.
Asif Ali, Mukesh, Meera Vasudev and Parvana play prominent roles in the film.
