Rahul Madhav: OTT releases are sensible during the times of Covid-19

Mollywood actor Rahul Madhav features in Lalbagh, which could be Mollywood’s first OTT release after the Covid-19 induced lockdown has forced theatres to remain shut. While the movie was planned to be a digital release much before Covid-19 came into play, Rahul now tells us why it’s a sensible option.
“It looks like OTT platforms are here to stay for some time now, at least till the Covid-19 situation subsides. Till we find a way to come out of this hole, I don’t know how the theatre situation would play out. So, what do you do if you have a product and you want to get it out to the masses without exhibition centres functioning? The only way is to stream it online so it reached the audience. If you don’t have the financial resource to hold on the product, till this situation subsides, then it’s sensible to release it digitally,” he says.
Lalbagh, which has Mamta Mohandas in the lead, has Rahul playing a character named Tarun. The movie is directed by Prashanth Murali.
