The Thrissur West Police arrested Malayalam actor
Sreejith Ravi on Thursday (July 7), under POCSO Act, for flashing minor girls near the SN Park area at Ayyanthole. The incident reportedly took place on July 4, and the first additional district and sessions judge PN Vinod dismissed the bail petition and remanded Sreejith Ravi in judicial custody for 14 days.
Sreejith Ravi is a member of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), and the organization is looking into the issue, and have shared that the final decision on the disciplinary action against the actor will be made, once they get the details of the case.
Speaking to TOI, AMMA general secretary Edavela Babu has confirmed that he had contacted the police officers investigating the case and has requested to provide information about the incident and the case. Babu added that the final decision will be made after looking into the issue. “We think we can take a stand after receiving details from police. We will make an appropriate decision soon,” Babu told TOI.
Meanwhile, Sreejith Ravi has reportedly confessed to the crime, citing that his action was in relation to his mental illness, for which he is undergoing treatment.
Son of actor TG Ravi, Sreejith Ravi was arrested in 2017, for a similar case. He was reportedly flashing high school children near Ottapalam. Though Sreejith Ravi denied it, he was arrested after tracking the mobile tower location at the time of the incident.
