I am paired with Biyon in the film.”
While the movie has been tagged by many as a sequel to Ramu Kariat’s classic, Chemmeen, starring Sathyan, Sheela and Madhu, director Benny says it is not true. He says, “The only connection with the old film is the character Panchami, who was Karuthamma’s younger sister. Geetha Vijayan plays this character. Madhu sir is the only actor in the new film who was part of Chemmeen.” Benny has previously directed Brahmastram and Daivathinte Kayyoppu.
Mollywood had films withChemmeen-connection in the past too. The 1998-release Thirakalkkappuram directed by Aadityan was touted as a sequel to Chemmeen. While the film’s songs were a hit, the movie was not a box office hit.
