Director-writer-producer M V Gopal Ram, who has worked on some of the blockbusters in both south and Hindi film industries, was recently awarded with the Dadasaheb Phalke this month. Gopal Ram says, ���It felt great to receive the award from ace director
Subhash Ghai. Iyakkunar Sigaram K Balachander had previously been honoured with the same award.���
Talking about his body of work, Gopal Ram says, ���I started out as an assistant to director Richard Attenborough in his film, Gandhi.
I also assisted James Ivory and K S Sethumadhavan before directing films like Anokha Prem Yudh and Diwana Tere Pyaar Ka.
I���ve also penned dialogues for
Ram Gopal Varma, and other Tamil-Telugu films in Hindi including Aparachit and Baasha. I still hold my contribution to Periyaar and the Telugu version of I Am Kalam close to my heart.���
The director is now in the process of releasing Baasha and Veera in Hindi.
