Veteran actress Rupini, who was a prominent figure in Tamil cinema during the 1980s, has reportedly become a victim of financial fraud. She is well-known for her memorable roles in popular films like Rajinikanth's 'Manithan,' 'Raja Chinna Roja,' 'Pulan Visaranai,' and
Kamal Haasan's 'Apoorva Sagodharargal' and 'Michael Madana Kama Rajan.' After marrying Mohan, Rupini stepped away from the film industry and has since been leading a private life with her family in Mumbai, including her son and daughter. Despite moving away from the limelight, she remains a devout follower of Lord Ezhumalaiyan and is known for her unwavering faith. Visiting the Tirupati temple and seeking the blessings of the deity have been an integral part of her spiritual journey.
According to News 18, a man named
Saravanan from Tamil Nadu approached Rupini, claiming he could arrange a special darshan for her at the revered Tirupati Ezhumalaiyan temple. To gain her trust, Saravanan reportedly showed her several photographs taken with prominent celebrities, thereby establishing a false sense of credibility. Convinced by his assurances, Rupini initially paid him Rs 77,000 as part of the arrangements. However, as the discussions progressed, Saravanan cited various reasons and managed to extract an additional Rs 1.5 lakh from her, promising a seamless and exclusive darshan experience. Trusting his words and driven by her deep devotion, Rupini complied with the payments, believing that the arrangements would be made as promised.
However, Saravanan eventually disappeared without fulfilling his commitment. Repeated attempts by Rupini to contact him proved futile, leading to the painful realization that she had been deceived. The emotional toll was significant, especially considering her deep-rooted religious sentiments. The fraud only came to light after Saravanan became unreachable, leaving Rupini distressed and disappointed. This unfortunate incident highlights the importance of vigilance and verification, even when dealing with individuals who appear trustworthy. It also sheds light on how scammers can exploit emotional and spiritual vulnerabilities, emphasizing the need for greater caution in such sensitive matters.
