Cop roles are nothing new for actor
Sarath Kumar. He had convincingly played such roles in several movies, be it in Chennaiyil Oru Naal, Acham Thavir, Nimirnthu Nil or Velachery. However, his role in Rendavathu Aatam as a cop will be different, says director
Prithvi Aditya, who will make his debut with this film.
“The story revolves around what happens during a night show in a theatre.
Sarath sir plays a police officer but the role is very unusual. He plays a cop, who everyone would be able to relate to. He won’t be someone with super powers but would deal with issues differently and work within limitations,” says Prithvi, who believes that Sarath is the most suitable actor for the part.
He says, “When I was thinking about who would be apt for the film, a lot of my friends came up with Sarath sir’s name. I also felt the same and went ahead and narrated the story to him. He liked the script but suggested a few changes. Now, we are all set to start the shooting from mid-June.” Though the director is yet to finalise the rest of the cast, he says, “Sarath sir’s role if I may say, will be a lot inspired from Al Pacino.”
As for the title of the film, Prithvi who had assisted movies like Grahanam and Thozha, says, “Rendavathu Aatam means second show in a theatre. I didn’t want to title the movie ‘Night Show’, so we came up with this name. It will offer some nail-biting and edge-of-the-seat moments.”
