After activists threatened to shut down Bengaluru on April 28 as a mark of protest to actor
Sathyaraj's statement 9 years ago on the
Cauvery water dispute, the actor has finally apologised. The video apology came after the activists had said that
Baahubali 2 will be allowed to screen in Karnataka only if actor Sathyaraj, who plays the role of Kattappa in the film, apologises.

I am not against Kannadiga or Karnataka. The biggest example for this is that for the last 30 years, my assistant has been Shekar who is a kannadiga. I would like to apologise for the statement that I had made nine years back and would like to say that I am a small worker in Bahubali film and my comment should not affect the film."
Earlier, Bahubali director SS Rajamouli had appealed to pro-Kannada groups to allow the release of the blockbuster film's sequel in Karnataka. In his video statement, he had said, “Whatever Sathyaraj has said has no relation with the movie or its crew. The comments were made by Sathyaraj 9 years ago. Since then many of his movies have released, even Baahubali. I request all to support
Baahubali 2 the way they did for part one. We have informed Sathyaraj about the situation. We have nothing to do with his comments.”
Though Sathyaraj expressed his regret that his actions were held against a movie that thousands of people have put in a lot of hard work, he requested directors and producers who don't want any trouble to their films for casting him in the future to stay away, since he would continue to voice his opinion for various issues such has the cauvery isse, farmers issue and more for the Tamil people. He also said that he is more proud to live and die as a Tamilian rather than an actor.
