A speed breaker meant to save lives turns into accident hotspot: The shocking reason

According to the latest reports presented by various online media sources, in Dehradun, a speed breaker near the Clock Tower, which was supposed to help slow down traffic, is instead causing a lot of accidents. The problem is that it’s not marked properly, and its design is risky. Drivers, especially motorcyclists, are finding themselves in dangerous situations. Local people are now calling on the authorities to fix the problem before someone gets seriously hurt.
Recently, several videos have gone viral showing accidents caused by this unmarked speedbreaker. One video shows a scooter hitting the bump and the rider getting thrown off the bike. While the rider was lucky to walk away unhurt, this kind of incident is happening regularly. Motorcycles, which are more prone to accidents on uneven roads, are especially affected.

According to the reports, the main issue with this speed breaker is its design and the lack of warning signs. It’s higher than usual, making it difficult for vehicles to cross smoothly. There are no signs ahead to warn drivers about it, so they don’t have time to slow down. This sudden bump can throw people off balance, especially when they’re not expecting it.

Without any clear markings, drivers can’t prepare for the speed breaker, leading to accidents that could have been avoided. The lack of signage is making this problem worse, particularly in busy areas where cars are moving fast.
According to the reports, as accidents keep happening, local leaders and residents are becoming more frustrated. Garima Mehra Dasauni, a Congress leader, posted about it on social media, saying that there were at least seven accidents in just 30 minutes near the Clock Tower. She criticized the government for not doing anything to fix the situation, calling it a case of carelessness.

As per the media sources, Dehradun isn’t the only place facing this problem. Other cities in India, like Gurugram, have had similar issues. In one viral video from Gurugram, a BMW went airborne after hitting an unmarked speedbreaker. The car was lifted off the ground, and two trucks behind it were also affected. After this incident, authorities in Gurugram finally added warning signs and painted the speed bump to make it more visible.
This showcases that the problem of poorly designed or unmarked speed breakers is happening in many places. While speed bumps are meant to slow down traffic and reduce accidents, when they’re not built properly or are hard to see, they can cause more harm than good.
