Amber comprises fossilized resin from ancient trees and is a substance of great historical and scientific significance. Over millions of years, it transforms into gemstones, which provide information about prehistoric times. This special reddish variety of amber found in Colți is a very rare gem, available mostly from the mine areas.

The elderly woman's story began many years ago when she stumbled upon the stone while exploring a stream bed near her village. The vibrant hue and smooth texture of the stone caught her attention and she brought it home and put it to use as a doorstop. However, the stone's true worth remained hidden for decades, remaining in the house unnoticed.
After the woman's demise in 1991, her home was inherited by a relative. This relative, curious about the potential value of the unusual doorstop, decided to research and investigate further. It was then sold to the Romanian state, and experts at the Museum of History in Kraków confirmed that the amber is aged between 38 and 70 million years and it was one of the largest pieces ever discovered.

According to reports, Daniel Costache, director of the Provincial Museum of Buzău, where the amber is now placed, believes that the value of Rumanite is incalculable.
The members of the family also revealed that the elderly woman had once been the victim of a break-in. Thieves, searching for valuables, overlooked the red stone that was there in front of their eyes, unaware that it was worth more than all the gold jewelry they stole. "In their frantic search for valuables, they overlooked the real treasure that was there before their eyes," the family said.
