Canada only G7 nation mum on Pahalgam terror attack that killed 28

NEW DELHI: While the world mourns over the death of 28 people killed in the ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, Canada has not yet officially condemned or issued any statement on the gory attack.
Ottawa, which has had diplomatic run-ins with New Delhi, remains mum even as India's geopolitical rivals like Turkey, China and Pakistan have condemned the attack. The attack was condemned by the Taliban and Iran.
Though there have been no official words from the Canadian government, Canada's opposition leader, Pierre Poilievre, called out the horrific terrorist attack.
"I condemn in the strongest terms the horrific terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that took the lives of innocent civilians, including tourists and families. Our hearts are with the victims, their loved ones, and all those affected. Canada stands united against terror in all its forms," Poilievre wrote on X.
Hours after the attack, US President Donald Trump strongly condemned the attack and assured his support for India and said that "PM Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies".
"Deeply disturbing news out of Kashmir. The United States stands strong with India against Terrorism. We pray for the souls of those lost, and for the recovery of the injured. Prime Minister Modi, and the incredible people of India, have our full support and deepest sympathies. Our hearts are with you all!" he said in a post on Truth Social.
A group of terrorists on Tuesday afternoon gunned down male tourists milling around eateries, taking pony rides or just picnicking with their families at the meadow touted as 'Mini Switzerland' for its serene beauty.
Security agencies have released sketches of three men suspected to be involved in the gruesome attack. The trio, identified as Pakistanis, are Asif Fauji, Suleman Shah and Abu Talha, officials said.
The sketches were prepared with the help of the survivors' description of the attackers, they said. The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
