Foreign secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistan’s DGMO called his Indian counterpart at 15:35 hours, following which both sides agreed to cease all firing and military activities starting from 17:00 hours IST."Instructions have been given on both sides to give effect to this understanding. They will talk again on the 12th of May at 1200 hours," Misri said.

"Over the past few days, as we have seen, Pakistan has suffered very heavy and unsustainable losses after it gave us an unprovoked attack on our installations. It has suffered losses on both land and in the air," she said, adding that key Pakistani air bases at Skardu, Jacobabad, and Bholari had sustained extensive damage.

The sources also confirmed that the call initiating the ceasefire came from the Pakistani side.
“There is no pre or post-condition to the ceasefire agreement. The call was initiated from Pakistan,” MEA sources said, clarifying that the decision was limited strictly to halting military action.
