Watch: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, leader of opposition Rabri Devi’s heated exchange in legislative council

A heated confrontation broke out in the Bihar Legislative Council on Tuesday between chief minister Nitish Kumar and leader of opposition Rabri Devi over the issue of reservation.
The verbal duel started when RJD members entered the house wearing green T-shirts as part of their protest. An annoyed Nitish Kumar stood up, called the protest "bogus" and questioned its relevance.
“All this is bogus. It has no meaning. Have you seen anything like this anywhere in the country?” Kumar said while addressing the house.
The situation escalated when Nitish took a personal jibe at Rabri Devi, the former chief minister and wife of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. Speaking in Hindi, he said, “E bechari ko kuch aata hai? Isko toh aise hi mukhyamantri bana diya” (Does she even know anything? She was just made CM without reason). He further added, “When Lalu was removed, she was made CM. Have you seen anything like this in any other party?”

His comment triggered outrage among RJD members, who immediately protested. Rabri Devi also did not stay silent, resulting in a heated back and forth. When Rabri Devi protested against the mocking, Kumar dismissed her saying, "You stay out of this. The party belongs to your husband, not you."
While speaking to journalists, Kumar questioned the protest, saying that such behaviour—wearing T-shirts inside the assembly—was unheard of elsewhere in the country. "Have you seen such behaviour anywhere else in the country?" he asked them.
The opposition demanded that Bihar’s 65% reservation policy be added to the Ninth Schedule of the Constitution. RJD members also attempted to overturn furniture inside the assembly.
The Bihar chief minister has been repeatedly targetting the leader of opposition Rabri Devi, highlighting how she became CM in 1997 after her husband Lalu Prasad's arrest.
On Thursday, Nitish Kumar took a sharp personal dig, saying, "Her husband made her the chief minister when he was placed under suspension." As Rabri rose to defend her eight-year tenure and highlight her achievements, Nitish dismissed her with the Magahi phrase, "Chhoda na, tohra kuchh maloom hai" (You stay out of this. You know nothing about these matters).
They had also clashed over governance and women’s welfare. Nitish had called Rabri a “CM of circumstances.” Rabri hit back, accusing Nitish of insulting women before staging a walkout with opposition members in protest.
