Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a huge crowd of young students during the event “Pareeksha Pe Charcha” at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi today. While discussing problems that students face before examinations, he answered several questions in his witty yet simple style.
A student named Meera Bano, from Leh in Jammu and Kashmir, asked a question which was brutally true yet concerning.She requested, “Parents have a very high expectation from their children. Can you please make our parents understand to take us as we are?”.
Modi’s answer was laced with humour but the message for parents was strong and clear. And he came with a series of pragmatic replies. Here are five amazing tips that we have framed for parents who are worried about their kids’ examinations and bright future.

Establish dialogue
The Prime Minister suggested students to never doubt the intention of their parents. Further it is very important to talk and have a two-way communication between parents and their children. A dialogue is the best method to know what your kids are facing and to help them know what you want for them.
Don't "transplant" your dreams on your children
It is okay to expect your kid to perform well but in many cases parents miss out on this basic introspection. He said parents must know that the kids are not bound to do what their parents wanted to become in their early age. Every individual is unique and shall pursue their field of interest.

Open doors for understanding
Education is not just about scoring numbers, and the Prime Minister rightly defied the idea of forcing kids to study just for the sake of marks. “Abhi 85 aya hai to 90 kyun nahi? Fir 90 aya hai to 95 kyun nahi?”. (If he can score 85 marks, why can’t he get 90? And when the kid scores 90, the parents will question why not 95?) It is evidently very important that parents understand what the child is going through and what he or she is good at. Only with such understanding a coherent development can be seen.
Treat your kids as friends
With the help of a Sanskrit quote, the Prime Minister explained that when your son or daughter turns 18, you ought to start being friends with them. As human beings, we all grow to explore the world and face new emotions. And it’s highly recommended that they have a trusted friend by their side while they accomplish bigger milestones.

Kids are not your social status
Across the nation, a major problem is that parents feel belittled when they can’t brag about their kids publicly. When they cannot boast about their children’s performance, they unconsciously force these young minds to accomplish the impossible. This pressurises the students to focus on report cards rather than expanding their knowledge and mentality.
