Prince William seems to share a close bond with his wife Kate Middleton's family, and the royal couple often share quality time with the Middleton family. However, Kate's brother James Middleton revealed in his book that while Prince William is there for most of their family get-togethers, he tries to avoid the "fiercely competitive" atmosphere at their home. Why? As per reports, the Middletons get too "competitive" at games during their downtime, so Prince Williams tries to avoid the situation!
“Ella gave him a perfect excuse to avoid the fiercely competitive atmosphere of the Middleton household, especially during our favourite fast-paced card game, Racing Demon,” James revealed in his book titled 'Meet Ella: The Dog Who Saved My Life', as per RadarOnline.com. He further wrote in the book, "William would wince at our relentless drive to succeed,. He was thrilled to be the first one out of the game, and when he no longer had to participate, he’d retreat to cuddle Ella. Even better, he’d avoid the game altogether.”
Confirming the same, royal expert Christopher Andersen added that Prince William does try to excuse himself from the games as they can get a bit too intense at times. “William and Kate’s card games are so intense and all-consuming that William often finds excuses to steer clear. However, away from the high-stakes games with his in-laws, William has no qualms about challenging Kate in a competition," he said, as per a report by the Economic Times.
Many people are unaware that UK royal Prince William is an avid animal lover and he is particularly fond of dogs. Interestingly, both his grandmother-- Queen Elizabeth II and Frances Shand-Kydd (who was Princess Diana’s mother) lovd dogs too, and Prince William seems to share this trait with them. In fact, Prince William had pet dogs while growing up, however, after their death, he didn't get another pet for a very long time. It was years later in 2011, that Kate and William got a black cocker spaniel, Lupo, as a part of their family. And after Lupo died in 2020, the royal couple got another cocker spaniel named Orla as their pet dog.
