Impact on air travel
The closures have led to widespread disruptions in air travel. In addition to canceling a number of flights, major airlines like IndiGo, Air India, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air have advised travelers to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport.
Nationwide, increased security measures have been put in place, such as supplementary ladder point inspections and limitations on access to terminal buildings by visitors.
In order to account for the extra security measures, passengers are encouraged to arrive at least three hours before to departure. Airlines have also advised passengers to bring only one piece of carry-on luggage and to present a valid government-issued photo ID.
These events coincide with a string of retaliatory measures taken by the two nations. A number of nations have issued new travel advisories warning their nationals not to visit the impacted areas unless absolutely necessary.
