IPL 2025 : The uncapped super six

Over the years IPL has served as the best platform for uncapped cricketers to showcase their wares and grab national attention. Here’s a look at some young guns of IPL 2025 – some freshers, others not so — who could well become top guns in white-ball cricket
Vipraj Nigam (DC)
A leg-break bowler who can smack the ball hard is a rare thing in Indian cricket. The 20-year-old son of a school teacher from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, has been key to DC’s strong show this season.
His 39-run blitz off 15 balls helped DC overhaul a target of 209 against LSG in one of the most thrilling chases of 2025. With the ball, his leg-breaks have helped DC dominate the middle overs. His wickets read like an all-star list:
Shivam Dube, Devon Conway, Virat Kohli, Krunal Pandya, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Aiden Markram.

Digvesh Rathi (LSG)
Spotted in the Delhi Premier League, Rathi stands out with a Dhoni-style mane and trademark send-offs. A 25-year-old leggie who hides his bowling hand during his run-up, he’s tough to read — and tougher to hit.
Despite several dropped catches, he has 8 wickets, including a beauty that clean-bowled Naman Dhir of Mumbai Indians.

Priyansh Arya (PBKS)
Abhishek Sharma has competition. Priyansh, another Delhi Premier League product and a school teacher’s son, is a southpaw with effortless power. He’s hit 15 sixes this season.
His 39-ball century against CSK — the second-fastest in IPL history — came while wickets fell around him, showcasing his calm temperament under pressure.
Zeeshan Ansari (SRH)
A member of India’s U-19 team that lost the 2016 final to the West Indies, Zeeshan’s career seemed to stall as peers like Pant and Ishan rose quickly.
But the Lucknow-born leggie is back. In SRH’s loss to DC, he took **three key wickets — Fraser-McGirk, Du Plessis, and KL Rahul. Since then, he’s bowled with confidence, often deceiving batters, though fielding lapses haven’t helped his stats.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi (KKR)
The lanky 20-year-old from Delhi made waves as an opener in the U-19 2022 World Cup. Now in KKR’s middle order, he’s shown adaptability.
His 50 off 32 balls against SRH highlighted his range of strokes and composure in a pressure role.
Ashutosh Sharma (DC)
The 26-year-old from Madhya Pradesh built a reputation for slog-over fireworks last season with PBKS. He’s continued that form with DC.
His unbeaten 66 off 31 balls earned him the Player of the Match award against LSG and helped script the season’s biggest heist. A sharp fielder and cool head under pressure, he almost repeated the act against MI — but was undone by a run-out.
