In response to the recent Assassin's Creed Shadows issues, renowned Japanese video game creator Hideki Kamiya has stated that
"normal people" don't give a damn. Alongside his comments, the Assassin's Creed Shadows development team received some excellent marks.
Since its May 2024 announcement, which established that the game would include a black protagonist based on an actual historical figure named Yasuke, the most recent installment in Ubisoft's venerable series has been enmeshed in controversy. Elon Musk's statement that
"DEI kills art" in reference to Assassin's Creed Shadows and instances of individuals damaging Yasuke's Wikipedia page were among the many instances of internet hate that resulted from this.
Hideki Kamiya wants the fans to just play the game
According to the creator of Devil May Cry,
"a few super-intense people" recently made
"a big fuss" about Assassin's Creed Shadows, reflecting on the current situation. However, the creator of Bayonetta and Okami, who expressed this opinion in a tweet on March 24, feels that these critics are just a vocal minority.
Kamiya elaborated on this idea by claiming that most
"normal people" take a
"it's fine" attitude toward things like drama related to video games, adding that this isn't just the case with the Assassin's Creed Shadows controversies.
Because of this, Kamiya thinks that the criticism of Ubisoft's most recent game is greatly exaggerated. In order to give some context for each social media controversy, he asked whether there was a
"way to make these 'normal people' equally visible" in online discourse as he wrapped up his remarks.
In addition, Kamiya expressed his satisfaction that Assassin's Creed Shadows is performing well in terms of both sales and reviews after it was recently confirmed that the game had over 2 million players within 48 hours of its release.
Here’s the translated version of the tweet:
“This isn't limited to this case, but while there are a few super-intense people who make a big fuss saying, "I won't tolerate that!", the other majority of normal people who take an "it's fine" stance are basically silent...I wonder if there's no way to make these "normal people" equally visible in everything…”Also, Kamiya's assessment isn't necessarily incorrect. Not withstanding all of the alleged problems the game had before launch, it is currently enjoying tremendous early success. All of this demonstrates that the noisy minority is exactly what it seems.
