God of War (2005) vs. God of War (2018) which is better and why

One of the most illustrious franchises in gaming history began with God of War (2005). Santa Monica Studios never had to look back after that. This game is still regarded by many as possibly the best in the series. Set against the backdrop of a magical world steeped in Norse mythology, the reboot spins a timeless tale that explores redemption, familial ties, and what it means to be human in a world of gods and monsters. However, it is fundamentally about a father and son attempting to comprehend and learn from each other.
Because Atreus causes Kratos' world to spin on its axis, he is forced to reconsider his goals and priorities. With the help of his father, Atreus is attempting to navigate life and comprehend his origins. Everyone will remember their relationship, their personal growth, and the bonds they make with other characters along the way.

The OG God of War was more focused on combat using the Blades of Chaos, aligned with an action hack-and-slash gameplay. As the camera angles were fixed and the game was fast paced, it gave viewers a cinematic approach. In easy words, combat was the core of the game which was based on unhinged action, gruesome executions and environmental puzzle solving.
On the other hand, the new God of War was more based on strategic gameplay. The combat in this game isn’t as easy as the OG one, as it needed in-depth knowledge about the environment and the enemy to counter. With the over-the-shoulder camera angle, the game looked more immersive and battles feel more intense. Not only that, the new game features many typical RPG attributes like skill trees, armor upgrades, and many more.

Now the choice is completely yours. Actually, both the games have their unique aspects which made them two legendary titles of this franchise. So, choosing one of those two is more difficult than beating Baldur while watching the guard of Atreus.
Still, if you want an answer, then the 2005 classic one should be your go-to title if you prefer intense battle. But if you like rich storytelling, then there can’t be a better game than the 2018 one.
