How to make an play the Mage Build in The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered is here. After being shadowdropped by Bethesda out of nowhere, fans have become frenzy regarding this game. However, as this game is just two days old, fans might find it a bit tough to accustom all the in-game aspects, like making and playing the Mage build.
That’s where our guide comes in. Among the 21 classes scattered around three main categories in Oblivion Remastered, Mage is one of the most important classes. However, this class is not that much easy to master, unlike other classes of its category, Spellsword or Nightblade.


Among the Magic category, Mage is the only class that is solely based on magicka, which is the core of the whole category. As there are not many ways you can go with this class, being a Mage will take a lot of efforts to master most forms of magicka. In order to master this class, you have to train yourself with different kind of magics, learn new spells and enchant your items.
Unlike other classes, you just can’t blindly depend on better weapons and skills if you are planning to master Mage. Instead, you will need your arsenal ready with spells. However, you don’t need to worry about everything because we will get things simplified for you:

When you are up at the character creation tool in Oblivion Remastered, you will need to choose the race for your Mage character. There are three perfect options for you: Breton, Dark Elves and High Elves.


Intelligence: This attribute should be your top priority as it directly increases your Magicka which in turn increases your Spells.
Willpower: If you don’t want to get wasted midbattle, then this Attribute is your next choice as it speeds up the regeneration process of Magicka.
Speed: The name of the Attribute says it all. Speed lets dodge the enemy attacks faster, especially in case of ranged attacks.
Agility: If you are using a backup dagger, then you can think of equipping this Attribute.
Luck: This is another important Attribute as it boots all your skills
You can leave attributes like Strength, Personality, etc. You can also leave Endurance if you aren’t thinking about close range spells.

Destruction: This is going to be your primary skill if you are planning to play as a Mage, because major spells like Fireballs, Lighting Bolts, Frost Spells, etc. fall under this. It will also deal the most share of damage.
Restoration: Attack is not the only option because you need this skill for healing and boosting your defenses. The higher Restoration skills you have, the higher Restoration spells you will gain.
Conjuration: If you are in a heated situation and need a hand, you can summon creatures to fight for you, which will give you space for a breather.
Mysticism: This skill gives you the ability to trap souls and absorb spells.
Alteration: Gives the quality-of-life abilities like water walking, lock-picking, enhanced carrying capacity, shield boosts, and many more.
Illusion: What’s a Mage if he doesn’t have the Illusion skill which grants paralysis, invisibility, charm spells, etc. which are used to manipulate enemies.

Now comes the most important part. Mages are purely based on Spells. So, you need to keep these in your holster mindfully:
Fireball, Blizzard, Lighting Bolt: These spells give you solid ranged attacks with huge damage output. These are going to be your primary attack forces.
Spell Absorption: Combined with Willpower, this skill keeps your Magicka high during battle so you don’t seat like a duck in long duels.
Chameleon: If you haven’t done your homework on Thief build, then you can sneak out of tricky situations with this build.
Summon Skeleton/Scamp/ Atronach: As previously mentioned in Conjuration spells, this spell is great to handle pressure situations.
Soul Trap: This spell lets you boost your enchanted gears by storing powerful souls.
Healing: You ought to have this spell because you need to stay alive after getting hit and potions are not going to get the whole healing process done.
Paralyze: If you are all on your own against multiple enemies, then you can cast this spell to stop them in their tracks. Combine this with a Destruction spell for a lethal one-two combo.

When you are playing as a Mage, you always need to be one step ahead of your enemies in the game. As a Mage, you can’t stay in a single spot as you will always need to move to dodge attacks.
Not only it will help you to attack you with different spells, it will also give you time to restore your Magicka. Also, you will be the one to wear light armors because wearing heavy ones will drag down your spellcasting. Hence, you can’t also get hit by the enemies.
Before starting a battle, open the field for others with Conjuration or Illusion. Also, help your allies by debuffing enemy spells. And when they are held tight by your allies, finish them with high-damage spells.
Becoming a Mage is pretty tough in Oblivion Remastered, but once you get a knack of it, you won’t think of playing any other class for sure.
