Conor McGregor has been out of the Octagon for nearly three years, but his ability to dominate headlines remains unmatched. The former two-division UFC champion made waves again recently with a high-profile visit to The White House on St. Patrick’s Day, where he met with President
Donald Trump and addressed the media. However, not everyone was thrilled with the amount of attention the Irishman received. UFC welterweight Philip Rowe took to social media to voice his frustration, urging fans to stop glorifying McGregor and calling into question the figures society chooses to admire.
Conor McGregor’s White House visit draws mixed reactions
Conor McGregor’s visit to The White House was widely covered across major sports outlets and social media, but for Rowe, the attention felt undeserved. The 33-year-old welterweight didn’t hold back in his criticism, making it clear he wants to see less McGregor-related content filling his feed.
“I don’t care that this convicted r****t is at the White House, I’m genuinely confused by who we admire in this generation,?Rowe wrote. “Stop praising him, get it off my feed. There’s tons of comprehensive, noble, standup people in the world to look up to. Do better.?br/>
Rowe, who earned his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2019, has competed six times in the promotion and is currently on a two-fight losing streak. His most recent defeats came via decision against Jake Matthews and perennial top welterweight Neil Magny.
No fight news for McGregor yet
Despite being out of the fight game since snapping his leg against Dustin Poirier in 2021, Conor McGregor has never really left the spotlight. Whether it’s his legal troubles, business moves—like buying into BKFC—or the endless talk about his UFC return that never actually happens, he always finds a way to stay in the conversation.

McGregor’s star power is undeniable, but not everyone thinks he deserves all the attention. Rowe’s reaction is just another reminder that plenty of people in the MMA world are tired of seeing headlines about McGregor’s every move while other fighters actually putting in the work get ignored.
