Auston Matthews, the star player of the Toronto Maple Leafs, has led the team to enjoy a winning streak as they recently defeated the Anaheim Ducks and the Los Angeles Kings. But it seems like Auston Matthews was saved from a major injury, and now fans are furious at Anaheim Ducks’ Cutter Gauthier. In a video that has now gone viral, Cutter Gauthier's skates might have injured Auston Matthews severely had he not removed his face.

The viral video shows that at the match between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks, Cutter Gautheir tries to stop Auston Matthews from securing the puck. This is when Cutter Gauthier loses his balance and trips on the ice. But as he is seen tripping, his legs go high up, near Auston Matthews’ face until he moved his face to avoid the injury.

Now, fans are furious at Cutter Gauthier. A fan commented, “These young players flailing their legs up in the air when they're hit are on a short f**king leash. Knock it the f**k off, no that's not natural.”

Another fan commented, “Regardless of what team I'm on, I'd take Cutter out with a massive clean hit the next time I saw him.”
A third fan wrote, “As if you need more proof that skates can unintentionally get up THAT high. Slightly different circumstances to 18 months ago, but still evidence to show that skates can be sent flying following contact.”

Many fans are also scared about Auston Matthews. A fan commented, “so scary .. to many near blade encounters this season”, while another fan wrote, “Holy moly. Matthews is lucky.”
Neither Auston Matthews nor Cutter Gauthier have addressed the situation. Both Toronto Maple Leafs and the Anaheim Ducks have also remained silent about the situation.
With the win against the Anaheim Ducks, the Toronto Maple Leafs have redeemed themselves with their second win.
The Toronto Maple Leafs is now gearing up to face the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night and fans are hoping for another win.
