88 Games, the gaming division of Emmy-nominated animation studio 88 Pictures, announced its debut title 'Kapih,' an action platformer that draws from Indian mythology and traditional art styles. The game is set to release on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms.
The game follows a young Vaanar character whose village is destroyed, leading to an adventure that intersects with events from the Ramayana epic. Featuring run-and-gun gameplay mechanics, Kapih includes platforming challenges, shoot-em-up sequences, and vehicle-based sections, along with local co-op functionality.
Distinguished by its "Kapih Style" visuals, the game incorporates elements from traditional Indian art forms including Kalamkari, Thanjavur, Warli, and Madhubani. The developers have chosen Sanskrit as the game's audio language, working with scholars to ensure authenticity.
"Kapih is more than just a game; it's a celebration of our culture, our stories, and the extraordinary in the ordinary," said Milind D. Shinde, Founder & CEO of 88 Games. "We're honoured to share this heartfelt adventure with the world."
