Minecraft April Fools' 2025 update: Mojang Studio introduces mob animator feature on game's official website

Minecraft has a tradition of celebrating April Fools’ Day with its fans. To celebrate Minecraft's April Fools' Day 2025, developer Mojang Studios has rolled out a new feature called "mob animator" on the game’s official website. This feature allows players to combine two different mobs, yielding a variety of unexpected outcomes. Accessible on both desktops and smartphones, the new section bears the title "mob animator." The feature includes a subtext where the developers jokingly ask the question, “How does it work?” and also gives a playful reply, “We don’t know,” highlighting the intentional vagueness behind the design. Last year, Mojang rolled out a Poisonous Potato update for April Fools’ Day, which offered a new dimension and a tough boss battle.

A "mob animator" is a person who excels at combining different mobs that are typically kept separate in Minecraft. We at Times of India Tech tried out this feature, which allows players to create humorous results by mixing mobs. Similar to previous years, this feature is expected to be available for users on Minecraft’s official website for 24 hours.

The mob combiner in Minecraft's April Fools' feature doesn't work as expected. Spawning two mobs often results in a potion effect that causes one mob to explode and the other to disappear. However, some combinations may produce amusing outcomes, such as merging two chickens to create a larger chicken.
In addition to mob combinations, players can access a block spawner offering items like TNT, cobblestone, and dirt blocks. Combining two TNT blocks reportedly creates a large 3D version. Placing this on the website allows for amusing explosions, leaving behind only blank space.
The mobs and items available for experimentation reportedly include bee, chicken, creeper, pig, slime, skeleton, zombie, dirt block, TNT block, stone block, coarse dirt block, and obsidian block.
Players who want to try out this feature need to visit the Minecraft website. Using a desktop is recommended for optimal control. However, access may be limited in some browsers or regions, so players can try switching browsers or wait some more for the feature to arrive for them.
