Bill Gates recently said that nuclear energy will play an important role for many countries as they work on new power solutions. Speaking at a meeting in Jakarta with President Prabowo Subianto, government officials, and several billionaires, Gates explained that he is working with South Korean companies to develop new nuclear reactor designs that are safe and low-cost.
“There’s a lot countries really need nuclear energy,” he said.
During the visit, he also shared the Gates Foundation’s upcoming plans for Indonesia. He said the foundation will soon introduce new anemia medications and tuberculosis vaccines in the country.
“A lot still to be done in health, but the innovation pipeline is strong,” he said.
The meeting follows Gates' earlier announcement that the Gates Foundation will open a regional office in Singapore.

In a post on threads, Gates reflected on the “incredible couple of days in Omaha,” reflecting on the value he places on his time spent with Buffett. Gates stated that he regards Buffett not only as "one of the greatest investors and philanthropists of all time" but also as a cherished "mentor and a friend."
“It was an incredible couple of days in Omaha. Every time I’m with Warren, I’m reminded how lucky I am to know him—not just as one of the greatest investors and philanthropists of all time, but as a mentor and a friend. My life changed the day we met,” Gates said.
