Renowned Malayalam artist Sreekumaran Thampi has been honored with the Vayalar Award for his autobiography 'Jeevitham Oru Pendulum' (Life is a Pendulum). Kamal Haasan, who has worked with Thampi in the past, congratulated him on this achievement. Thampi expressed his gratitude for the award but also revealed that he had been deliberately denied it multiple times in the past. The Vayalar Award is considered the most prestigious accolade in Kerala and includes a cash prize, citation, and a bronze figurine.

Sreekumaran Thampi, renowned poet and lyricist, suffered a stroke on September 9 due to high blood pressure. He spent a week in the ICU at KIMS Health in Thiruvananthapuram and is now recovering. In a Facebook post, he thanked the medical team and requested fans to understand his need for rest during this period.

The 28th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) opened on Friday, December 8 at Thiruvananthapuram. The festival celebrated the 90th birthdays of filmmaker-screenwriter-author MT Vasudevan Nair and actor Madhu through a photography exhibition. The exhibition showcased rare pictures of the honorees and was curated by photographer R. Gopalakrishnan. Renowned filmmaker Sreekumaran Thampi inaugurated the event, which was organized at Tagore Theatre. The IFFK is one of India's prominent film festivals and is hosted by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy on behalf of the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Kerala.
