Vardah Cyclone

On Sunday, the seeds for an initiative to plant one lakh trees in the city in a bid to reclaim breathing space was initiated by PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss, along with the NGO Pasumai Thaayagam.

Few morning joggers at the Gogababa Hill enjoyed witnessing the thin layer of fog engulfing the famous Bibi-ka-Maqbara, others added another layer of woollens before stepping out of home on Sunday morning.

Learning from super cyclone Amphan that left the city devastated, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation has chalked out measures to ensure that restoration of roads and services is faster should cyclone Sitrang hit the city with equal ferocity.

With the cyclone Biparjoy expected to form and move northwards along the west coast, IMD has issued warning for rough seas and gale winds along the coast.

The night temperature remained above normal in Bhopal but was a degree lesser than a day earlier. Temperatures would come down to normal for a day or two. It will again register marginal rise due to the system in the Bay of Bengal.

The temperature remained close to normal mark in Bhopal and other places of the state on Friday. With the peak of heat getting over, the day temperatures at most places came down to around 40 degrees mark.
