Reflector law: Centre gives 6-month relief to industry

The bicycle industry in Ludhiana is relieved after the central government decided to give a six-month relaxation from the new regulation. This relaxation is the result of a meeting between a delegation from the bicycle industry and union minister of industry and commerce, Piyush Goyal, his deputy, som parkash, and senior officials from the department of industry and commerce. Another major decision made at the meeting was the slashing of the application fee for a certificate of conformity to the Indian Standard, Bureau of Indian Standards, by 80%. BJP general secretary, Jeewan Gupta, who was part of the delegation, said that the center is very much concerned about the woes of the small industry, and that the union ministers, Piyush Goyal and som parkash, accepted the demands of the bicycle industry and gave a six-month relaxation to the small industry from the new regulation. They have been given until June 30 to comply with the new norms of fixing approved reflectors on bicycles, and the second demand of the industry, reducing the fee for a certificate of conformity to the Indian Standard, was also accepted.
