Even after nearly 20 years, the Real World: Austin cast remains close.
Wes Bergmann, Nehemiah Clark, Rachel Moyal-Smith, Melinda Collins (née Stolp), and Lacey Hanmer (née Buehler) made a combined Instagram post on Sunday, Oct. 13, revealing details about their unofficial reunion.
"This weekend was the informal Real World: Austin reunion," the foursome captioned the picture. "We discussed, laughed, sobbed, and binge-watched our season. It's not a cliché to say this is a family.
They went on to say that if they went back on camera for another episode, "We'd be the most entertaining formal, televised, reunion - ever," and that "there is still a lot to unpack."
"Neither Johanna nor Danny were able to make it. But they were missed," the fivesome added, referring to their costars Johanna Botta and Danny Jamieson. "We talked to Danny on FaceTime and for all those wondering he's hot AF."
The tweet, which included shots of the cast eating lunch, playing golf, and posing for group photos, ended with "#RealWorldAustin". Bergmann's wife, Amanda Hornick, and their daughter joined in on the fun.
The Austin version of the long-running reality show ran from June to November 2005. The 16th season of The Real World series followed a group of unique strangers who lived together for many months in a new place.
The Real World: Austin cast mates expressed their gratitude in the comments section for the opportunity to spend time together after meeting on the show over two decades ago.
"I love this crazy family that I'll always be a part of! Collins replied, "You have a deep place in my heart," while Clark commented, "My heart is full." I am grateful to be able to call this amazing collection of folks my family. I adore you all!!"
This is not the first time the band has rejoined over the years. The group gathered in 2018 to attend Bergmann and Hornick's wedding at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri.
Bergmann's ex Johanna Botta and Collins' ex-husband Danny Jamieson were the only Real World: Austin roommates who were not present.
At the time, Hanmer posted a group shot of herself and her former castmates at the wedding on Instagram.
"These people make me so happy," she captioned the picture. Botta thanked the newlyweds in the comments, while Hanmer revealed that the marriage was officiated by Clark.
The following day, the housemates continued their enjoyment by attending a Kansas City Royals baseball game.
"best brother friend," Hanmer wrote alongside a photo of her smiling with Bergmann. "One of the few people I don’t look as pale next to. Love you and am so happy for you.”
