Popular crime television show
CID has been in the spotlight ever since news broke that Shivaji Satam, who played the iconic ACP Pradyuman, will no longer be part of the series. Satam, who has been synonymous with the role for over two decades, confirmed that he is taking a break from the show, leaving fans emotional and nostalgic.
In a surprising move, the show’s makers have brought in actor
Parth Samthaan to step into the shoes of the lead officer. He will now be seen as ACP Anushman, a new character introduced to lead the CID team, including beloved officers Daya (
Dayanand Shetty) and Abhijeet (
Aditya Srivastava).
Speaking to Hindustan Times,
Parth Samthaan revealed that he initially declined the offer. “Initially, I rejected the role of ACP Pradyuman because I don’t relate to it. But the makers asked me to reconsider,” he shared.
Parth admitted he was hesitant due to the legacy and the show’s longstanding cast. “It felt unusual and awkward to imagine Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava addressing me as ‘sir’ on screen. That was a major reason for my initial reluctance,” he added.
Parth rose to fame with his role as Manik in Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan, and was last seen on television as Anurag Basu in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. His comeback marks a new chapter in his career as he ventures into a more intense and commanding role.
Meanwhile, CID actor Hrishikesh Pandey recently confirmed that Parth has already begun shooting scenes alongside Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava.
CID, which made its grand return on December 21, 2024, features a strong cast including Dayanand Shetty, Aditya Srivastava, Sparsh Khanchandani, Hrishikesh Pandey, and now Parth Samthaan. As the show gears up for its new innings, viewers are eagerly waiting to see how ACP Anushman takes charge of the CID team and solves gripping cases ahead. The legacy of ACP Pradyuman will forever remain etched in the hearts of fans, but a new era has begun—with fresh energy and familiar faces.
