Bharat Ek Khoj, it is very special for me to have worked with Shyam sir, the man responsible for so much that is admirable in and right about Hindi cinema over the last 30 years. Possibly one of the most erudite people I've met."
She further adds, "When Atul (Tiwari) narrated to me a couple of episodes, I was stunned by how dramatic the story of the birth of the Indian Constitution was. Also, for the first time in the history of Indian film or television, a shooting has taken place within the actual precincts of the Parliament of India."
Shyam Benegal says, “While casting for the anchor's role I wanted someone with sensitivity, sensibility and knowledge of the history and politics of India; a person with good acting capability. The actor had to connect important historical incidents together and also have a graceful presence to attract the youth of our nation, so that they would feel connected to the events in the narrative. We found all these qualities in Swara Bhaskar.”
