Yuzvendra Chahal and actor-choreographer Dhanashree Verma have officially filed for divorce, as confirmed by Hindustan Times following a statement from Chahal’s lawyer, Nitin K Gupta. According to the lawyer, the divorce petition was submitted with mutual consent and is currently under judicial review in the Bandra court, Mumbai.
Due to legal restrictions, details of the case cannot be publicly discussed. Chahal and his family have refrained from commenting on media reports, urging people to avoid speculation regarding their separation.
"Mr. Chahal reached a settlement for obtaining Divorce by Mutual Consent with Mrs. Verma. A Petition for Divorce by mutual consent was presented before the Hon’ble Family Court, Bandra. The matter is currently sub-judice," Chahal's lawyer Nitin K Gupta said in an official statement to Hindustan Times. "Further steps are being taken as per law in this regard. Mr Chahal and his family respectfully choose not to comment on the details circulating in media and request all to refrain from any kind of speculation," he added.
The couple, who tied the knot in December 2020, were adored by fans on social media, often sharing glimpses of their chemistry on Instagram. Dhanashree had previously shared how they first met during the COVID-19 lockdown when Chahal, eager to learn dance, approached her for lessons after seeing her videos online.
For months, their relationship had been under intense social media scrutiny, with rumors swirling after reports emerged that they had unfollowed each other on Instagram. Their divorce now puts an end to the ongoing speculation.
