It was weird being in front of the camera after a gap: Nanda
Even though Nanda set out to become an actor a few years ago, he realised acting wasn’t his ‘thing’. But his passion for dance helped him become a choreographer. Having choreographed for over 150 films, including Pyaar Prema Kaadhal, Taramani and Peranbu, Nanda found his feet as an actor again when he signed on to play the lead in the Zee Tamil's television serial Gokulathil Seethai.

“I started my career as an actor in Pugaippadam. But I realised that I couldn’t act after doing it,” Nanda says with a laugh, “It was then that I became passionate about dancing. I worked with Prabhudeva master in Mumbai and Chennai. I also worked for the channel on all their events. It was the channel heads who suggested I take up the role in this serial. I wasn’t sure as it’s been a while since I faced the camera, but they convinced me that I could pull it off. We did a promo shoot and they were happy with it. It gave me confidence and here I am!”
This romantic serial sees Nanda teaming up with Asha Gowda. While she plays a traditional woman from a middle-class family, Nanda is seen as a Casanova, who is reckless about his life decisions. He says, “It was weird being in front of the camera after a long gap. Being an actor comes with a certain responsibility. I had to lose tonnes of weight and work on my overall appearance. This time, though, acting was not as daunting because I had observed actors in my days as a choreographer and used to note how they emoted when dancing. All that experience didn’t go waste.”
