Actress Aparna Nair's sister claims her husband's excessive drinking habit led to her suicide

Known regional actress Aparna Nair was found dead at her apartment in Kerala on August 31. In the aftermath of her tragic death which was alleged to be a suicide, the actress’s sister has reportedly filed an FIR claiming that her husband Sanjith's excessive drinking and ignorance pushed her to take the drastic step of taking her life. Further, her family also alleged that she was subjected to extreme mental torture by Sanjith. According to the FIR, Aparna’s mother informed her that she was found lying unconscious; and even though they rushed her to the hospital, she was declared dead. Sanjith, on the other hand, has reportedly given a statement to the police saying that Aparna was drunk on the day of her death and he had quarreled with her over the same. In his statement, he also said that they visited the Attukal temple that morning and had decided to go to see Onam celebrations at night. However, an argument broke out between the two after Sanjith questioned Aparna when he saw her drinking alcohol, and he apparently left the house with their three-year-old daughter. Sanjith further stated that he received a phone call later saying that his wife had tried committing suicide and he rushed home. Moreover, the police reportedly said that their little daughter gave a statement saying that Aparna had hit Sanjith on the head with a bottle. Aparna Nair was known to have acted in films and TV shows such as ‘Meghatheertham’ and ‘Chandanamazha’.
