JIND: At the 42nd Senior National Rowing Championship held in Bhopal, once again, the daughters of Haryana raised their flag and secured their place in the Indian team. Girls and boys begged five medals including one gold, two silver and two bronze. Chand Singh Chahal, the rowing team coach, stated that they will participate in the World Championship in Australia in May, followed by upcoming international competitions.
Chahal mentioned that after 20 years, the Asian Games will be held in India this year in 2025, and this time, India will host these games. There is a strong possibility that 7 players from Haryana will be selected, which will be a moment of pride for everyone. He suggested that if the Haryana government pays a little attention and sets up barricades on the canal to stop the water, the children can practice comfortably. For this, a stretch of 2 kilometers is needed, which isn’t a big task. The water in the canal only flows for 10 days, after which they have to go elsewhere to practice, which causes a lot of difficulties for the children. Since the standard rule for this sport is a 2-kilometer race, the government can set up barricades after 2 kilometers in a canal near Haibatpur village of Jind district to create a good system so that when the water stops after 10 days, they can still practice without any issues.
“Kiran, who won a gold medal in doubles competition, stated that the Asian Games will be held in October this year, but we lack facilities. This sport requires water, but we don’t even have enough water. The girls of Haryana are struggling and still winning medals. Despite the lack of water, we are consistently bringing medals in national games, but now our major achievement is that the Asian Games are being held in India. Therefore, the Haryana government should create better arrangements for us so that we can perform even better,” she added.
