Kranti Vichar: Celebrating Ambedkar’s vision at SCZCC’s constitution festival
Nagpur: A powerful drama, ‘Kranti Vichar', marked the concluding day of the two-day cultural event, ‘Bharat ke Samvidhan ka Amrit Mahotsav' (Platinum Festival of the Indian Constitution), organised at the South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC). The event was part of the nationwide campaign ‘Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman' in commemoration of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's birth anniversary.
Before the performance, SCZCC director Aastha Karlekar, CCRT chairman Dr Vinod Indurkar, and deputy director Ashutosh Sharma offered floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar's portrait. Dr Indurkar, who also conceptualised, wrote, and directed the play, used ‘Kranti Vichar' to dramatise Dr Ambedkar's writings and speeches. The play aimed to inform and inspire students and citizens about Ambedkar's contributions to democracy, social justice, and education.
The play powerfully portrayed the revolutionary thoughts of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, drawing from his speeches and writings to highlight his vision of social justice, democracy, and education for all. Each scene reflected Ambedkar's fierce commitment to equality and constitutional values. Dedicated performances by artists brought depth and intensity to the narrative, earning appreciation from all quarters. Their sincere portrayal ensured that Dr Ambedkar's message resonated strongly, especially among the youth and students in attendance.
The play received a great response from the audience, who engaged deeply with its message and spirit. It offered a compelling theatrical portrayal of the ideals and philosophies of Dr Ambedkar. "This play aimed to inform, educate, and inspire students and the general public about Dr Ambedkar's immense contribution to democracy, social justice, and education in India. It was designed with a strong educational purpose to spark critical reflection and civic awareness among audiences," said Dr Indurkar. The audience admired the performances of all the artists.
Earlier, on April 14, Samar Nanda, joint secretary, ministry of culture, Govt of India, inaugurated this cultural festival and also felicitated the participating artists. An exhibition focusing on three themes — Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's life and legacy, the contribution of women in the Constitution-making process, and the various committees and their chairpersons involved in drafting the Constitution — is underway at SCZCC.
