Marvel fans who missed the theatrical release of Captain America: Brave New World may not have to wait too long to watch it at home.
According to a report by LiveMint, the latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) instalment, which was released in cinemas on February 14, 2025, is expected to arrive on OTT platforms in the near future, although an exact date is yet to be confirmed.
In this new chapter,
Anthony Mackie stars as Sam Wilson, who has officially taken on the mantle of Captain America. This is his first solo movie in the role since he was handed the iconic shield by Steve Rogers in Avengers: Endgame (2019). The film builds on the storyline from the web series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, where Sam's inner struggle and hesitation to accept the responsibilities of Captain America were explored in detail.
The plot of Captain America: Brave New World follows Sam as he finds himself caught in a global conspiracy that threatens world peace. One of the key elements in the film involves the rare and powerful metal called adamantium, discovered on the mysterious Celestial Island. As tension grows worldwide, Sam is forced to work alongside U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, now played by veteran actor
Harrison Ford, who steps into the role previously portrayed by the late William Hurt.
The movie introduces new characters too. Israeli actress Shira Haas appears as government agent Sabra, while Giancarlo Esposito plays a villain named Sidewinder. Danny Ramirez also takes on a more prominent role as the new Falcon, adding fresh energy to the team. The story adds a political layer to the action, showing how international relationships and secret agendas make Sam's mission even more challenging.
As of now, it has not yet been revealed when the movie will be available for streaming. However, based on past release patterns of Marvel films, Captain America: Brave New World might be available for digital purchase sometime around mid-April 2025, just as the MCU braces itself for its next chapter with the release of 'Thunderbolts' on May 1 and the upcoming release of 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' on 25 July. The Disney+ streaming release could likely follow in late May or early June 2025.
