Several Hollywood celebrities have reached Messinia, Greece, as the filming of Odyssey, a new movie directed by
Christopher Nolan, is set to begin. Among the arrivals was
Matt Damon, who has taken on the role of Odysseus.
According to a report by public broadcaster ERT, two planes from Morocco landed at the local airport on Wednesday, bringing the film’s cast and crew. He was seen leaving the airport shortly after 10 p.m., followed by
Tom Holland, who will be playing Telemachus. Also present were Nolan himself and his frequent collaborator, cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema.
In total, about 180 people, including actors and technical staff, made the journey to Greece on two direct flights. After landing, the entire group boarded buses and private vehicles and traveled to the Pylos region. This will be their base for the next few days as filming continues.
According to the report, on Thursday afternoon, Christopher Nolan and Hoyte van Hoytema were seen at the port of Pylos. They were carefully examining a ship that will serve as Odysseus’ vessel in the film. The production team appears to be making sure every detail is perfect before shooting begins.
